Degree Programme
BA International Relations and International Organization, 3rd year

Special Area of Interest
My areas of interests vary from European affairs – law and security policy to International Law and dispute settlement.

Why are you participating in the IRSP?
Since the IRIO programme offers us the broad knowledge and understanding of an issue or event from different perspectives, I considered that taking part in IRSP would complement to my academic studies with “real life” experience in the field of International Relations.

What do you like particularly about your specific research-topic?
The practical side of research is what appealed to me the most. It involves going beyond the scope of a purely theoretical research by further analyzing the political, economic, legal and social aspects of different countries for a possible expansion of market. Moreover, conducting research for Koneksie gives me the possibility of acquiring more insights into the African continent, especially the Sub-Saharan region, an area which is poorly presented in our programme.

What are you expecting from participating in the IRSP?
My expectations from participating in the IRSP are to improve my research skills, find the applicability of the gained academic knowledge and, of course, get in touch with open-minded and inspiring people. From the way the research has been going so far, I can happily say that it has come to reach my expectations.

What is a quote that you really like/that you can relate to?
I can strongly relate to Winston Churchill’s quote that “Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”

Why are you participating in the IRSP?
IRSP really is the bridge between University and ‘the real world’, it really gives one a good view of how IRIO knowledge could be used there.

What do you like particularly about your specific research-topic?
Koneksie’s open-mindedness and the way they conduct business in Africa.

What are you expecting from participating in the IRSP?
To gain a lot of practical experience and to improve cooperation skills (working in a team).

What is a quote that you really like/that you can relate to?
“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” (Winston Churchill)

Degree Programme
Finished BA International Relations and International Organization

Special Area of Interest
Developmental issues, Middle East/Africa

Why are you participating in the IRSP?
I’m participating in the IRSP because it provides me with a great opportunity to deepen my knowledge on development issues by doing a ‘real-life’ research. Next to that, conducting a research together with an enthusiastic group of students is a great social experience that implies, besides the improvement of my research skills, a lot of fun.

What do you like particularly about your specific research-topic?
Doing research for Koneksie, and hereby for a social enterprise settled in Kenya, gives me the chance to use my knowledge on development studies and the African region to conduct research at a high level in a field that has always been relevant for me.

What are you expecting from participating in the IRSP?
I’m expecting an exciting semester with a great group, a lot of interesting research, and hopefully, the possibility to go to Africa and have an amazing fieldtrip.

What is a quote that you really like/that you can relate to?
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world” (Mahatma Ghandi)

Degree Programme
Master International Relations, specialized in Global Governance

Special Area of Interest
Geopolitics, the combination between local and international governance

Why are you participating in the IRSP?
I am participating in the IRSP because I wanted to see to what extent the skills that I developed in my previous years of study are useful for practical and formal research. I hope to learn more about my personal and research strengths and weaknesses.

What do you like particularly about your specific research-topic?
I think the Koneksie-project is interesting because the results could be really useful for the company and because the subject of the research, Sub-Saharan Africa, is an area from which I hope to learn a lot.

What are you expecting from participating in the IRSP?
To develop my skills, get experienced with the work field of International Relations and to make friends.

What is a quote that you really like/that you can relate to?
“A better world starts with yourself” (Author unknown)
